Indian Oil Corp Ltd is planning to set up a waste to energy plant in Ranikhera in Nerala in Delhi. The selected site is a landfill site used by New Delhi Municipal Corp, and IOCL has signed a MoU with them to develop the waste to energy plant using municipal solid waste. It will produce compressed biogas (CBG) by recycling plastics, refuse derived fuel (RDF) for producing plastic or syngas and its downstream products.
The solid waste to energy plant will consume around 2500 million tonnes of solid waste every year.
