Delhi Airport has made plans to become plastic free by the end of year 2019. The airport authority has discussed the issues with stakeholders and created awareness and options for eco-friendly sustainable alternatives.
It advocates smart and bio-friendly packaging for food takeaways and beverages as well as paper or environmentally friendly bags for retail shopping. It also looks at segregated waste as bio degradable and recyclable at source. The airport which handles over 63.5 million passengers every year handles a significant amount of plastic waste and the airport authorities are set to control the same.
